Start with the environment
Define placement, user interaction, duty cycle, network conditions and power. Use the real operating environment to guide the screen, enclosure and thermal design.
Make interfaces explicit
Record the electrical, software and mechanical interfaces. Establish which team owns the app, firmware, cloud services, updates and device support.
Validate the assumptions
Agree the prototype scope, measurement methods and acceptance criteria. Use the evaluation to refine specifications before production planning.
